Apparently it takes a lot of work to scream “but we’re cheaper!” As Microsoft touted PCs running their operating system as less expensive than Macs on TV recently, it seems they weren’t paying attention to a BIG hole in IE security until it was already being exploited.
Mashable and others are reporting a hole that is actually being targeted by hackers as I write this post. You can fix it now by going here.
PC user Tom Latham responded to the report, “Security? I can’t afford to pay for security.”
But an IT director for a Fortune 500 company was quoted as saying they’re responding quickly to the threat. “We’re going to strengthen our Websense protection to make the Internet COMPLETELY unusable for our employees.”
Asked if integrating Macs into the company could alleviate the security issues without impacting productivity, the IT director shook his head. “Macs are more expensive. It’s much easier to force our employees to figure out 2-hour workarounds for tasks that should only take 30 seconds.”
