Experts Claim Twitter Malware Exemplifies Internet Porn Misuse.

twitterbirdReports are surfacing that there is a large threat of malware via Twitter. Two new trending topics lead unsuspecting users to what they think are pornographic videos. Instead the user is prompted to install the latest version of Flash, which is actually the malware installer.

Security experts suggest that Twitterers who fall prey to this are simply “doing the internet porn thing all wrong.”

Jim Jacobson, an Internet security consultant whose clients include numerous Fortune 500 companies says, “Twitter is the wrong tool for finding hot, sexy videos of lowlife individuals committing scandalous acts of carnality.” He then took a puff of his cigarette and looked around to see who in line at the coffee shop was noticing that he was being interviewed.

“There are so many better ways to find the disgusting video of your choosing,” he continues. “Twitter works better for social unrest in Arabic countries than it does for the delivery of porn.”

Jacobson offers the following tips for finding good, malware-free porn on the Internet:

1.    Google is your friend – Google keeps track of malware threats for you, so you can watch your  videos with no fears;
2.    If you see any “crotch flash” links mentioning any celebrity who’s not Britney Spears, chances are it’s not real;
3.    That 18 year-old aerobics instructor / cheerleader who just sent you a Facebook friend request? She didn’t really “stumble onto your profile and thought you were real cute.”

Twitpocalypse – Crisis Averted…For Now

June 16th, 2009

dead_birdThankfully, the Twitpocalypse passed with only a few developer outages. And those were probably caused by techs who drank too much cheap booze at lunch. I’ve spent a lot of time in the IT departments of Fortune 500 companies, and let me tell you: They’ve got a LOT of booze stashed away among all those computer parts.

Why do you think they keep their doors locked? Are they afraid someone might steal the POS corporate-grade Dell doorstops laptops they’re working on? No, they’re afraid everyone will find out they spend all day doing nothing but drinking and looking at Japanese porn.

Where was I? Oh, yeah. The Twitpocalypse.

Apparently life is now safe for Twitter fanatics. You can all come out of your bomb shelters and put your rifles away. Just like Y2K, this vision of the apocalyptic came and went with nary an effect on your poor, pathetic life.

But who knows what tomorrow might bring? Maybe the Newtpocalypse?

The Great Facebook Land Rush

June 15th, 2009

facebooklogo_9Like every other loser who doesn’t have a life, I stayed up late on Friday night to make sure I could grab “Mockaholic” as my Facebook vanity URL. So, if you want to be my friend, now all you have to do is go to http://www.facebook.com/mockaholic

It’s really amazing to see the Facebook developers so excited in this video about the smooth launch of the vanity names feature. And it is a very big accomplishment…for the year 2001. What’s next, a video of the Facebook engineers excited about adding a pop-up ad feature?

But apparently Facebook thinks this is the key to their future success, as opposed to that whole “selling your soul to Satan” thing that was bandied about recently.

Anyway, Let’s get back to my exciting Friday night. I wanted to be sure that I got the vanity url I wanted, so I watched the clock and at 11:00PM (CDT), I pounced like a cat on a tamale. (It’s a little-known fact that cats are quite fond of tamales. Forget Cheezburgers, if lolCats had known this, they would have named their site “I can haz tomawlee?”)

My speed and tamale-cat agility paid off. I had secured the “Mockaholic” brand for all eternity. Now I can pass it on to my son and he can pass it on to his son, assuming he doesn’t waste the family business on drugs and hookers, which is a definite possiblity.

I really wanted my actual name, but I knew that would be impossible to get and I didn’t want to end up with “jeff.smith2287436540.

I was quite proud of myself until this morning, when Mrs. Mockaholic asked what I was writing about today.

“The Great Facebook Land Rush,” I said between bites of cold pizza.

She looked up from her granola and fruit and asked, “What’s that?”

I explained to her what had happened on Friday night and how imperative it is to have “just the right” vanity URL.

“That’s what you were doing Friday night?” she asked. “I thought you were looking at porn.”

I immediately thought “she’s onto me” and my eyes widened in fear. But she let the subject pass and reached over to my computer and punched a few keys. Then she punched a few more.

“There,” she said casually. “I just reserved my name so all my high school and college friends can find me easily.”

And that’s what wives are for. They help you understand that – no matter how much of a loser you already feel like – you’re actually a MUCH bigger loser.

Now, if I can just get a verified Twitter account…

Anyone Heard Anything About This Digital TV Transition Thing?

June 11th, 2009

digit_alI’m still checking my sources for confirmation, but the rumor on the street is that there is going to be a switch from analog TV transmissions to digital tomorrow. If this is true, it could mean real trouble for millions of Americans.

I am outraged that no one has mentioned this before. I mean, why didn’t the TV stations make us aware that something this game-changing might be happening? Why didn’t they interrupt our peaceful TV-viewing with annoying crawls throughout the night, constant commercials and special news broadcasts.

It’s simply ridiculous that the powers that be are springing this on us tomorrow with absolutely no warning.

Now, mind you, I don’t watch much over-the-air TV ever since I started downloading movies illegally reading more, but I’m pretty sure I’m right to be outraged about this.

- The Gospel According To Twitter

Mashable has a story today about the coming Twitpocalypse, where all Twitter as we know it will come crashing down like so many birds who’ve been fed Alka Seltzers.

You mean no more inane comments that I’m addicted to reading?

No more vague jokes from @rainnwilson?

No more follows by f*****britney?

Where do I sign up?
