Techcrunch has picked up a story from Rapleaf that showcases the most popular names of registered users on Facebook. Surprisingly, they all come from the Bible or are rooted in a tradition of Biblical teachings. The list is:

As a result, atheist groups are up in arms.

“This just shows the oppression we atheists feel on a daily basis,” said Kendall Macksey, spokesman for Unbelievers Unanimous. “Now we can’t even go on Facebook without being accosted with the rubbish these x-tians espouse.”

Then he mumbled, “God, how I hate them…”

Macksey has started a campaign on Facebook demanding that the social media giant do something about this. So far, 84 people have joined the fight.

“This is a bigger groundswell than we saw with our very successful campaign against Nike, demanding they rename their line of ‘cross trainers’ to ‘non-ecumenical, non-judgmental trainers.’

“Now, we demand Facebook do something about this blatant attack against our lack of faith.”

Facebook spokesperson Caitlin Cassie responded to the dustup with a confused look. “What exactly are we supposed to do? These are people’s names.”

The attorney for Unbelievers Unanimous has some ideas.

“They could bar access to all people with x-tian given names,” said J. “Bub” Axall, Esq. “They could sprinkle a few names that are popular with atheists into the list. They could make a large donation to our cause. I prefer the last option.”

Facebook, recently stung by its tolerance of Holocaust denial groups, is expected to give into the group’s demands on the recommendation of its attorneys.
