Following on the heels of selling 1 million iPhones over the weekend comes another milestone for Apple computer. The iPhone store has now reached a total of 50,000 fart apps.

“Now there’s a fart app for everyone,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s SVP of Worldwide Product Marketing. “Fart apps are no longer just for a niche audience, they’re in the mainstream.”

He continues, “In fact, whether you’re looking for a simple fart app to embarrass your co-workers as they sit down or you want to express your creative side by composing your own farts with full control over length, volume and wet-factor, we’ve got you covered.”

Celebrities are also getting in on the farting “gold rush.” Ashton Kutcher, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton are only three of the dozens of celebrities looking to cash in on the lucrative farting business.

When asked about celebrity involvement in the fart game, Schiller says the field is wide open enough for many players.

“There’s no end to where this could go,” he said. And with that he shook his iPhone, which emitted a slow, melodious “fffffffttttttttt!”
