Mockaholic.com Launches…Let The Profits Begin!
June 2009 – Jeff Smith, well-known and beloved entrepreneur responsible for such “Seen on TV” gadgets as the “Pocket Shakespeare Prompter,” “The Garden Chisel” and the runaway hit “Habla English in siete days” lesson plan, is pleased to announce his newest creation, Mockaholic.com.
“Let the profits begin!” shouted Smith in his trademarked (no really, it’s trademarked) ear-splitting manner.
Mockaholic is a daily humor site featuring opinions and news covering the world of tech and the Interweb.
“My nephew’s always talking about this web stuff, and I thought it didn’t look too hard, so I decided to give it a try,” said Smith, angering the developers and web professionals he’s hired to keep the site running.
Smith has invested $3 million of his own money into the venture, making it the largest start-up in his twenty-year history of harebrained schemes.
The site - like many startups - is currently in Beta.
“To me, that means it ‘beta’ make me some money,” howled Smith. “Or heads will roll.”
Smith then cocked back his head and laughed heartily. Then, just as suddenly, he leaned forward and got very quiet. “No seriously, heads…will…roll.”
“I’m afraid of him,” said Srinivas Kampadoolianorpukkanataniavishkananabheri, lead developer for the project. “He thinks we’ll make our money back tomorrow. Oh God, why did I take this job?”
Margie Knox, head of marketing agrees. “My father was fond of saying ‘that boy just ain’t right.’ Well, that certainly applies in this case. Jeff’s off his rocker.”
When asked about the website, Knox continued to be forthcoming.
“Oh, it’s pure garbage,” she said, chewing on her pen. “Just plain awful.”
